Future of work in laundry 4.0:

Opportunities and challenges for establishing smart industrial laundries (acronym: IntWash)

Industrial laundries offer important cleaning services, e.g. to hospitals or the food industry. However, the complexity of laundering processes has radically increased in the last few years. To overcome these challenges, the IntWash network will develop innovative digital platform for worldwide laundry business. The goal of the research project is to summarize and present the knowledge about “smart laundries” and thus help to establish novel industrial internet of things concepts for laundries and their suppliers. In that way the project “IntWash” will tackle ‘big issues’ for laundry businesses in the long-term. The novel digital platform will enable:

- the continuous streaming of information on opportunities and challenges in digital transformation;

- the use of virtual reality for the laundry business to encourage industry development of modern training tools;

- the monitoring, control and optimization of processes;

- and finally, the acquisition, storage and evaluation of data.

We need you! We want debate with the worldwide laundry business and their suppliers about the benefits of the digital transformation.
